Condition Based Maintenance (CBM)

Following our introduction of our new i-Remote service at 01-07-2016 we like to provide you now with some more details about the fundament our i-Remote service. i-Remote is designed with the Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) strategy in our mind. CBM is a relative new and more efficient maintenance strategy for maintaining your installations. CBM differs from other strategy like: time-based (TBM), age-based (ABM), failure-based (FBM) etc.

Condition based maintenance (CBM) is a maintenance strategy that monitors (i-Remote) the actual condition of the asset to decide what maintenance needs to be done. CBM dictates that maintenance should only be performed when certain indicators show signs of decreasing performance or upcoming failure. Checking a machine for these indicators may include non-invasive measurements, visual inspection (i-Observer), performance data and scheduled tests. Condition data can then be gathered at certain intervals, or continuously (as is done when a machine has internal sensors). Condition based maintenance can be applied to mission critical and non-mission critical assets.

In real life situations with complex multi-component installations it can be expected that there will always be a kind of mix in strategy, for the i-Collector we have chosen for CBM as a starting-point.

No matter what strategy you prefer or suits best in a situation it is always a process of machine-learning, but the final goal of the i-Remote service is always o avoid unexpected downtime, reduce maintenance time & cost, quality assurance, in short: to protect your ROI & TCO and increase our customer satisfaction.
